Lion Magar | The Hope – Braille

The hope is one of a series of three works presented as a monumental pillar. The piece is made of mirrored stainless steel, embossed with the national anthem in Braille. The letters, which are not accessible to most viewers, turn the artwork into a reflection of a charged collective reality. The Braille script and the cactus create a complex image of Israeliness, survival, resilience, vulnerability, and blindness. The work examines the complex meaning of the anthem as a symbol of national hope in today’s Israel.
