Promising Artist Award
Acquisition Prize

Each year, the Igal Ahouvi Art Collection presents a Prize of 20,000 NIS to the Most Promising Artist at Fresh Paint Art Fair. The winner is selected from the independent artists participating in the fair for his or her overall artistic achievements so far, as well as for showing the most promise and potential for the future. The winner gets a solo show at the fair, the following year. The announcement of the winner is made at the opening of the art fair.

The 2009 Most Promising Artist Award was presented to Dror Daum, whose new works will be featured in a solo exhibition at Fresh Paint 3. As the prize committee noted, "We have found his works to be precise, composed by heterogeneous means, sensitive and thought provoking. Despite their concern with everyday themes and familiar images, Daum's works are characterized by a surprising appearance and a hypnotic quality."
Dror Daum (b. 1970) holds and MFA and a BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. He teaches at the School of Art, Beit Berl College.

The independent selection panel choosing the 2009 Prize Winner included:
Igal Ahouvi – Art Collector
Yona Fischer – curator
Michal Na’aman – artist
Dr. David Graves - philosopher and artist
Shay Rosen – Head of Igal Ahouvi Art Collection

Chair of the 2010 selection panel: Igal Ahouvi
List of panel members is forthcoming.
